A Singer-songwriter

My name is Chan Yan Nam, currently specializing in Music Production at HKDI. I am a singer-songwriter dedicated to the art of emotional storytelling. By blending technical proficiency in acoustic guitar with modern digital arrangements, I transform raw sentiment into polished, cinematic soundscapes.

My work spans from intimate acoustic covers to complex remixes, reflecting a deep commitment to exploring the 'cost of growth' and the fleeting nature of memory through sound. I aim to create music that doesn't just play, but resonates."

The Artist Behind the Sound

Deeply inspired by Ian Chan (陳卓賢)'s musicality, I am committed to mastering the four pillars of a self-contained artist: composing, songwriting, arranging, and producing. My musical journey began with a profound resonance with tracks like 再見 寧靜海 and 留一天與你喘息. This passion drove me to pick up the guitar; though I started later than some, it has only motivated me to pursue my dreams with double the effort and a rigorous sense of self-discipline.

I am currently focusing on the creation and production of my original works, striving to strike a balance between delicate emotional storytelling and modern arrangement. To me, music is a process of transforming the costs of growth into strength. Every piece I create stands as a testament to my dedication and the extra miles I have traveled to reach this goal.

Album- Dual
Graduation Project Songs

One soul, two echoes. Within this album, the contrast between introspective ballads and vibrant rhythms serves as a quiet revelation of ThaiJai’s dual nature. By navigating these two distinct frequencies, the listener finds a more intimate path to understanding the artist. It is a curated glimpse into a complex identity, making it simpler than ever to truly connect with the person behind the sound.

退潮期 / After The Tide

"After the Tide" signifies how quickly happiness vanishes, like footprints washed away by the receding water. Much like the realization that "we never knew we were at our happiest when we were," the deepest pain comes from the regret of not treasuring those moments until they were gone.

The Philosophy: Moving beyond a mere dismissal of existing rules, this approach is defined by an active, high-energy rebellion. It is not about simply ignoring the system, but about possessing the proactive power to shatter the mold and transcend established limitations.

Canton-pop

Artistic Resonance: It shares the emotional depth of tracks like (再見 寧靜海), specifically the sentiment that "we never knew we were at our happiest when we were".

It moves beyond a simple dismissal of rules. Instead, it embodies the proactive power needed to transcend established limitations and "break out" of the mold

The Creative Pulse

Every creator has a frequency that sets them in motion. For me, that pulse began with the music of Ian Chan.

When I first heard the haunting honesty of 再見 寧靜海 it wasn’t just a song—it was a blueprint for the kind of artist I wanted to become. His ability to navigate the complexities of "all-in-one" music creation—from the first note of a melody to the final polish of a master track—became my gold standard.

This pulse is what keeps me awake at 3:00 AM, putting in double the effort to master my craft. It’s why I picked up the guitar to learn 留一天與你喘息.My creative rhythm is built on that same dedication: a commitment to being a "self-contained" artist, turning personal echoes into songs that breathe.

The Sound of My Journey

I am a singer-songwriter and music producer who views music as a disciplined transformation of life experiences into sound. My journey is defined by a commitment to mastering the full spectrum of creation—composing, songwriting, arranging, and producing—to achieve a professional "four-pillars" standard.

From Passion to Production

My path as a creator truly began two years ago when I joined the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to major in Music Production. Since then, I have dedicated myself to a rigorous path of multi-instrumental and technical growth:

  • Musicianship: I developed my skills in guitar and piano to support my original compositions.

  • End-to-End Creation: I handle the entire creative process, from composing original beats and writing lyrics to performing the lead vocals.

  • Visual Narrative: My storytelling extends beyond audio; I have directed my own music videos and utilize platforms like Instagram Reels to share my creative process.

The Public Pulse

I believe that growth is accelerated through performance and industry exposure. My experience includes:

  • Television: Competing in the ViuTV reality talent show "King Maker VI", where I qualified for the performance rounds.

  • The Stage: Performing at various community social centers and appearing as a guest artist in live shows for fellow performers.

  • Discipline: Starting my formal musical education later than some has only fueled my drive, pushing me to work with double the effort to achieve professional excellence.
